Bulletin of the Experimental Firing GroupThe Experimental Firing Group provided a unique forum throughout the 1980s where methods for making, decorating and , especially, firing pottery could not only be discussed and debated but could also be tested practically. The Group, run almost single-handedly by Ann Woods at Leicester University, held regular meetings and conducted experimental firings with the assistance of several generations of students from the Leicester Archaeological Ceramics courses. As well as a series of Newsletters, the EFG published for five years (1983-1988) a Bulletin, edited by Ann Woods. In the interests of disseminating awareness of these contributions, we reproduce here the contents lists for each of the five issues. Copies have always been difficult to obtain, but some are still available; please contact Andrew Middleton (amiddleton@thebritishmuseum.ac.uk) for details. |
