Middle Bronze Age ceramics on the Greek Mainland display considerable diversity in manufacturing technologies and distribution patterns. In some cases a single ware can incorporate a wide range of ceramic styles as defined in terms of raw materials, forming techniques, surface finishes and firing regimes. This range of properties, and especially fabric variation, lends itself to petrographic analysis and the study of regional distribution patterns. This paper examines these properties in terms of Grey Minyan, Dark Burnished, Matt Painted and Minoanising wares.
